I was born in Middletown, Ohio in Southwestern Ohio. I attended
the public schools, grades 1 to 11. My senior year of high school was completed
at The Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania where I graduated.
Then I went on to study Electrical Engineering at Purdue University in West
Lafayette, Indiana. My father was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a Chemical
Engineer. He met my mother while at college. She was born on a farm near Connersville,
Indiana in Southeaster Indiana. She majored in Chemistry and Dietetics.

Career
Summer jobs while still an undergraduate
student: Surveyor's helper, engineering trainee with Westinghouse, one summer
in Sharon, Pennsylvania, another summer in Baltimore, Maryland.
First job after obtaining Master's degree: four years
as Member of Technical Staff at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill,
New Jersey.
After returning for additional graduate study, worked
as a programmer in the university's computer center and taught courses
in undergraduate mathematics and computer programming.
Was a Professor of Computer Sciences in the Department
of Mathemaics at Purdue University for four years.
Then I worked for McDonnell Douglas Corp. in St. Louis, Missouri as a systems
programmer. Later I was transferred to a special project in Denver Colorado
for a year, then was transferred to Long Beach, California. Later I was transferred
to the Huntington Beach facility to work on special microprocessor projects.
Now retired from from McDonnell-Douglas, which has since become a part
of the Boeing Corporation.
